• October 29 - Interested in getting involved with MDA?  Consider a position on the Board!

  MDA is currently looking for members who are interested in becoming more involved with the dietetic association.  Being a part of the Board offers many great opportunities including the ability to network with other dietitians, leadership experience, and contributing to our profession! We have many positions to fill for the upcoming year (June 2008 through May 2009) and are seeking expertise to enhance the MDA Board.  The positions that are available include: President-elect, Treasurer, Council on Professional Issues Chair-Elect, Division of Community Nutrition Chair, Consultation and Business Practice Chair, and Food and Nutrition Management Chair.  If you are interested in any of the positions or know anyone interested in these positions, please contact Susan Kopins by January 10, 2007.
  
  

• June 5 - Members in the News - Colleen Pierre, MS, RD, LDN, won the 2007 James Beard Foundation Journalism Award for her article “Solving the Sugar Crisis,” which was published in the June 2006 issue of Child magazine. The article presented a step-by-step approach to gradually replacing high-sugar items with healthier foods. It was developed through interviews with physicians, psychologists and child nutrition researchers.
