Position Description

We seek a Dietitian to provide nutrition counseling and education to people living with cancer, HIV/AIDS and other serious illnesses. Duties will include utilizing NCP standards to provide individualized nutrition counseling to clients via phone and home visits; assisting with development and distribution of client nutrition publications; providing cooking classes and group nutrition education; assisting with menu planning and nutrient analysis; and coordinating quality control measures.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate must have Registered Dietitian certification with a minimum of 1-3 years of related experience. Must be self-motivated, collaborative, and possesses good time management skills. Eligibility for licensure in the District of Columbia and Maryland, and a valid driver’s license, are required.

Desired Qualifications

Additional requirements include knowledge of evidence-based nutrition, knowledge of oncology and HIV medical nutrition therapy, excellent verbal and written communication skills, skill in providing nutrition counseling via telephone and in person, strong public speaking ability, and an appreciation for diversity. Spanish language skills a plus. Must be willing to work some holidays.
