Scholarships

The Maryland Dietetic Association Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) organization. We are the charitable branch of the Maryland Dietetic Association. We raise funds to provide scholarships for Students of Dietetics.

Mission
The Maryland Dietetic Association Foundation funds education and research initiatives to promote optimal nutrition, health and well being of the public.

Vision
MDAF will be an innovative and effective non-profit fund raiser for nutrition education and research initatives. 

Scholarships:
Scholarship applications will be accepted through March 16, 2012. Scholarships will be presented at the MDA Annual Meeting on April 27, 2012.

2012 Scholarships Available:

Dietetic Technician Award ($750) (application instructions)  (letter of recommendation form)

  • Must be accepted into or enrolled in an American Dietetic Association approved dietetic technician program.
  • Must be a Maryland resident or be attending/planning to attend a Maryland school.
  • Must not have been the recipient of this award in the previous calendar year.

 Returning Graduate Student Award ($1000) (application instructions)  (letter of recommendation form)

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree and be returning to school to pursue a graduate degree in a field related to the practice of dietetics (e.g. nutrition science, public health, community health education, foodservice administration).
  • Must be a registered dietitian.
  • Must be a Maryland resident or be attending or planning to attend a Maryland school.
  • Must not have been the recipient of this award in the previous calendar year

EV Mccollum Award ($1000) (application instructions)   (letter of recommendation form)

  • Must be students in an internship or pursuing an undergraduate degree in dietetics.
  • Cannot have a graduate degree or be working toward a graduate degree in a nutrition related field.
  • Must be a Maryland resident or be attending/planning to attend a Maryland school.
  • Must not have been the recipient of this award in the previous calendar year.

G Jane Hartman Award ($1000) (application instructions)   (letter of recommendation form)

  • Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in dietetics.
  • Cannot have a graduate degree or be working toward a graduate degree in a nutrition-related field.
  • Must be a Maryland resident or be attending or planning to attend a Maryland school.
  • Must not have been the recipient of this award in the previous calendar year.

 

Please see application instructions for specific instructions, but note that each application must include the following:

1.  A resume.

2.  Original transcripts from all colleges/universities you have attended or are presently attending.

3.  Three statements of recommendation. Use the official recommendation forms 

4.  A written statement (typed) which includes the award you are applying for; personal and academic experiences which have stimulated your interest in dietetics; your anticipated contribution to the field in the future; unique abilities and qualifications that make you appropriate for this award.

5.  Proof of enrollment in or acceptance into a college/university or dietetic internship.

6.  Official application instruction sheet with the signed statement.

7.  Proof of Maryland residence (driver’s license, voter registration card) if not attending a Maryland college/university or internship.
