"Take 15
for the Health of it" is a statewide initiative to help
Maryland families develop strategies for healthy living and encourage
families to spend at least 15 minutes each day on health-related
activities. The campaign will provide practical tips and tools for parents
to share with their children on such topics as healthy eating,
physical activity and substance abuse. The materials will cover children
from birth to age 18. More information can be found in the Parent
Resources section of the Maryland State Department of Education Web
site.
This campaign is a partnership between the Maryland State Department of
Education, the Maryland PTA, the office of Maryland First Lady, Kendel S.
Erlich, the office of State Superintendent of Schools, Nancy S. Grasmick
and the Maryland Dietetic Association. The kickoff for the
campaign took place on March 25, 2005. See the press
release [PDF] for more information on the kickoff event.
One great way to spend time together as a family is during mealtime
and MDA has a variety of resources
on the importance of family mealtime that are available to view and
download.
