MAND’s State Public Policy promotes the health of Maryland citizens particularly when Registered Dietitians & Licensed Nutritionists are heard! Meet with your representatives or attend workshops to better understand why you must be involved and how Public Policy impacts our profession! 


NEW Location:  Historic Inns of Annapolis(Maryland Inn), Duke of Gloucester Room (click here for map).   Address:  16 Church Circle, Annapolis, MD 21401 (located between Main Street and Duke of Gloucester Street)


Target Audience:  Registered Dietitians/Registered Dietitian Nutritionists, Registered Dietetic Technicians, Nutrition and Dietetic Students, Dietetic Interns, and other Healthcare Professionals are welcomed.


Program Objective:  Opportunity for Licensed Dietitian Nutritionists to visit Maryland state legislators to introduce them to what’s important to MAND members. To provide learning opportunities for our members to better understand current policy efforts, meet their Public Policy team, and network with their peers. 


Learning Objectives:  By the end of the Workshop, attendees will understand:



  1. The importance of active advocacy for the profession of RD’s and the health of Maryland citizens with the State Legislature.

  2. How to refine a political advocacy message for optimum impact—branding yourself.

  3. Talking to legislators is fun and impacts our profession.

  4. Use dialog to communicate the importance of nutrition in promoting health and learning a legislators’ point of view.


Continuing Education Credits: 6.0 CEUs


The Maryland Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics as a local affiliate of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is a Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Accredited Provider with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Registered dietitians (RDs) and dietetic technicians, registered (DTRs), will receive 6.0 continuing professional education units (CPEU’s) for completion of this program. Continuing Professional Education Provider Accreditation does not constitute endorsement by CDR of a provider, program, or materials.  A CEU certificate will be provided to all attendees.
