Position Description

The Breastfeeding Coordinator/Supervisor will be responsible for planning and implementing breastfeeding activities and services in Howard County. The staff will be responsible for the supervision of CPPAs, BFPCs and IBCLC. She will also assists with the delivery of WIC Services at the Howard County Health Department site to assure provision of high quality, cost-efficient, culturally sensitive services that comply with all Federal, State and local agency policies and procedures. The staff will provide breastfeeding and nutritional care counseling and will prescribe standard and exempt/special food packages.

May occasionally work on weekend and evenings and will have to travel to other clinics based on staffing needs, conferences, health fairs, meetings, etc. May assists on an on call rotation to answer the Breastfeeding warmline.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Dietetic Practice under the licensing requirements for Nutritionists and Dietitians.

Experience: One year of experience providing professional nutrition or dietetic services.

Note: 1. A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Community Health or Nutrition may be substituted for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Dietitian and Nutritionist classification or Dietitian and Nutritionist specialty codes in the Dietitian field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
