Congrats to the following candidates on their confirmation of elected positions for our 2018-2019 board year:

Nominee Bios:

Angela Green, RDN is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who currently serves as MAND Consultation and Business Chairperson.

Angela graduated from Ohio University’s Dietetics Program and during her studies served as Vice President to the University’s Student Dietetics and Nutrition Organization. She completed her internship at Adagio Health in Pittsburgh, followed by her initial venture into the career path of Nutrition Support. Formerly Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC), she practiced in the areas of Gastroenterology, Inpatient, Outpatient, and Renal Nutrition Support. In each area of clinical work, she has incorporated successfully her passion of community outreach, entrepreneurship and business development.

Angela currently works as the Director of Nutrition and Business Development at Medi-Rents & Sales in Baltimore, MD. The scope of her role is to provide the best available care and service for the patient from hospital to home, short term and long term, with any medical equipment services/supplies offered at the company.

The highlight of her current position has been the development and implementation of the Nurture, Home Nutrition Program. The program specializes in a unique and enhanced approach to home enteral and oral nutrition for children and adults. Her vision for the Nurture Program is for all patients have access to adequate home nutrition support, education and access to Registered Dietitians, across all insurance payers and other potential barriers to quality service.


Kathryn (Kathy) Egan, MEd, RDN, LD arrived in Baltimore of August 2017 and quickly became active on the MAND Board of Directors as CPI chair-elect. After this year's successful annual meeting Kathy is looking forward to the coming year as CPI chair. Her day job is working as manager of nutrition programs at Maryland Food Bank. She is the first full time registered dietitian nutritionist at Maryland Food Bank and is excited about creating nutrition education volunteer programs or food pantries and other agencies addressing food insecurity throughout the state.


Evangelina DiSpirito is a Registered Dietitian at I.L. Creations in Rockville, MD. After graduating with a BS degree in Dietetics and Nutrition, she completed a year-long post-graduate internship, with the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. She has been practicing as a Licensed Registered Dietitian for over 12 years and in 2014, trained in mindfulness yoga practice to become registered as a Yoga Alliance teacher.

Evangelina has worked as a Diabetes Educator providing diabetes self-management therapy to individuals with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, as well as providing Diabetes Prevention counseling to individuals diagnosed with pre-diabetes. She has also worked as a Corporate Wellness Nutritionist for Honeywell Aerospace and Defense, where she provided individualized medical nutrition and lifestyle counseling to help the staff maintain a healthy weight and manage chronic health conditions. She presented numerous, health and fitness presentations to staff with topics ranging from healthy cooking, preventing and managing health conditions through nutrition and lifestyle and reducing stress through mindfulness.

In her free time, Evangelina enjoys spending time with her family, running, teaching yoga, bike riding, reading, photography, and exploring gourmet cooking.


Elizabeth (Liz) Entin, MPH, RD, LDN earned her BS at Penn State University in Nutritional Sciences and her MPH in Global Community Health and Behavioral Sciences from Tulane University where she also completed her dietetic internship. Liz has experience in employee wellness program creation, implementation and management, public health, and reporting and evaluation. She has over 3 years of experience as a RD, providing MNT in both in-patient and out-patient settings. Most notably, Liz implemented the onsite employee wellness programs at both Northrop Grumman Corporation and Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD.

Currently, Liz is the Director of Population Health Management for USI Insurance Services.  She assists small to mid-sized employer groups in creating meaningful and sustainable wellness solutions for their employees, identifying cost savings potential through wellness strategy and analyzing population health data. 

Liz grew up in Montgomery County, MD and currently lives in Baltimore. Her pastimes include cooking, especially trying out new recipes, spinning and yoga!


Marla R. Caplon, RD, LD is currently the Director of Student Wellness Initiatives for Montgomery County Public Schools. She has been with Montgomery County Public Schools since 1988 and has served as an area supervisor as well as the Director of the division. Marla is a registered and licensed dietitian and completed her studies at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland. Marla has just been named the 2017 Outstanding Dietitian of the year by the Maryland Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Marla’s passion has been to creatively think out of the box to support children, school staff and the community. Recognizing the numbers of students that are impacted by hunger, Ms. Caplon has been especially passionate in expanding after school meal programs and summer feeding programs accommodating student special needs.

Ms. Caplon has devoted her career to the elimination of hunger as well as promoting health and wellness among all populations. She currently is past chair for Manna, Montgomery County’s food bank.


Nicole Arcilla, MS, RDN is a registered dietitian in Maryland and works as a campus dietitian with Chartwells Higher Ed. She started as a volunteer with MAND in 2015 and provided support to previous board members in planning events and marketing and communications. In 2016 she was elected and is currently one of the Nominating Committee Members. Nicole looks forward to a second term as a Nominating Committee Member to continue seeking and working with future leaders of MAND.
