Dr. Meena Somanchi, the nutrition volunteer for the Let’s Move cities and towns organized a meeting to start a vegetable garden in the Spring Hill Lake elementary school, Greenbelt, MD. Ms. Esther Mitchell gave a  power point presentation on starting a vegetable school garden. Ms. Mitchell is Master Gardener Coordinator,
University of Maryland Extension, Prince George's County Master Gardener Program. Some of the school teachers and some volunteers for the Let’s Move Program attended the meeting. Ms. Ester talked about different aspects of starting a school garden such as soil conditions, what vegetable seeds to sow at different seasons of the year, where to get funding to start a vegetable garden and other resources. The meeting was very useful and well appreciated by all who attended.
